Anne Swantz is the Associate Director of Advanced Practice at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY since July 2012. The center provides resource for ~ 500 APP’s. Previously she was the Assistant Director for pediatric advanced practice providers. She also has an appointment in the School of Nursing at the University of Rochester since 1993. In addition, she is a practicing PNP in a pediatric primary care clinic serving an urban, lower socioeconomic population. She
has been a practicing PNP since 1988 including working 3 yrs in private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio
Anne’s focus is fostering the professional aspects of the Advanced Practice Provider. She is a liaison between the clinical APP and the center for research to help provide support and guidance for individuals who are interested in pursuing a research component to their role. Additionally she assists and highly recommends individuals to publish many of the great innovative practices that APP’s have been integral to the success of the program. Generally, 20-25 publications are published annually from the APP group. She also counsels clinical areas regarding models of care that allow the APP to work to the fullest scope of practice allowed by law. Anne is also a crucial conversation trainer, teaching crucial conversations which is a 2 day class quarterly. Anne’s also most interested in strategic planning – utilization of APP’s in unique and innovative models as well as program development.
Anne is a member of the NAPNAP, NYS NPA, AANP organizations. She is also a member or chair of many hospital base committees. These include the PFCC leadership and clinician group, member of MSO credential committee, Nursing practice executive council, many quality committees, pain committee and the APP representative on many other committees.
Anne completed her MSN at the University of Rochester in 1988. Her undergrad nursing degree is from D’Youville College (1978) in Buffalo, NY. She is board certified from PCNB as a CPNP. Anne volunteers as a nurse in the nurse ministry program in her local parish. In addition, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
