Melinda Cooling is the Director of Advanced Practice at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She also serves as a professor at Maryville University in St Louis, MO and St Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria, IL in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. In addition to her administrative and faculty roles, she practices in a family practice ambulatory setting. As a nurse, Melinda worked at OSF Medical Group in a family practice office.
Melinda is involved in developing mentoring and orientation programs that assist new advanced practice providers in their role transition. She is interested in creating a fellowship program for primary care, cardiology, and neurology. She is also working to determine how to use analytics to attribute outcomes to the care teams that collaborate with APP’s.
Melinda is a member of the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and American College of Healthcare Executives. She sits on the APN/PA forum at Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. She chairs the Advanced Practice Committee at OSF St Francis Medical Center.
Melinda completed her DNP and MS at University of Illinois and her undergraduate studies at OSF St Francis Medical Center. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner and as a nurse executive advanced (NEA-BC). She also has a MBA in Healthcare Administration from Baker College.
Melinda enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She loves to watch her daughter play volleyball and her son play basketball. She loves outdoor activities including ice fishing, fishing, hunting, or just watching a beautiful sunset.
