NAPA is the state professional organization for Physician Assistants.  It is a constituent chapter of the national organization known as the American Academy of Physician Assistants. NAPA was started in 1975 by the first graduating class of the University of Nebraska Medical Center Physician Assistant program. The organization serves as a resource to Nebraska PAs, provides continuing medical education, strengthens public relations to the profession, advocates for quality patient care, and monitors legislation; taking action on legislative issues affecting health care and patient welfare. The percentage of Nebraska PAs holding membership to their state professional organization is one of the highest percentages in the nation for a constituent organization. NAPA’s home is in Lincoln, NE. Its origins began with organizational efforts made by its founding members and has transitioned from home environment offices, to the Metro Omaha Medical Society (MOMS) location, to renting office space and coordinating Academy business using part-time office staff, to a location in Lincoln and management by a professional management firm.
