The Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists was officially established in 1974. In the Spring of 1991, the TxANA Board of Directors realized that the challenges that laid before them, coupled with the difficulty of being able to take time away from work, that it was time to hire an employee to oversee the day-to-day activities of the Association. In 2014 TANA was officially changed to TxANA. Today, TxANA operates with two full-time staff members (Executive Director and Executive Assistant) and a lobby and legal team. Today, TxANA represents over 3,500 nurse and student nurse anesthetists.
