F. Diane Barber

Manager, Advanced Practice Providers


Dr. F.  Diane Barber, PhD, APRN, ANP-BC, AOCNP is a manager of advanced practice providers in the Department of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer in Houston, Texas. She has published numerous peer reviewed articles and is a sought-after speaker on various topics related to oncology, clinical trials, and advanced practice nurses at national and international conferences. She developed a clinical practice framework for oncology nurse practitioners that serve in the unique role of early phase clinical trial sub-investigators. Diane’s research interest is on evaluating the role of advanced practice providers in the outcomes of patients with cancer enrolled in early phase clinical trials.

She earned her BS in Nursing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, an MSN from University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Tyler.  Diane has a wealth of nursing and professional association board experience. She recently served as a director at large national board member of the Oncology Nursing Society. Currently, she is serving on the nominating committee of the Oncology Nurse Certification Corporation, Inc., and on the communication  committee of the International Society of Cancer Nursing.

Diane enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. Her hobbies are exploring her family’s genealogy, reading, gardening, and trying out new recipes.
