Caren Misky

Chief, Professional Practice and Development


Caren Misky is the Chief of Professional Practice and Development for DispatchHealth. She was instrumental in the foundation and development of DispatchHealth’s mobile acute care EMS Pilot and ED Diversion program. Through this work and growth of the program, Caren has vastly grown the APP workforce, and it continues to exhibit rapid growth due to her contributions and commitment to APP autonomy. In her role as Chief, she sits on the executive team and is responsible at a national level for leadership and professional development of Advanced Practice Providers, as well as clinical productivity, provider practice enablement, education, staffing and market expansion with the help of her growing leadership team. Through her leadership and commitment to the organization DispatchHealth has helped save over $174M and reduced unnecessary ER visits by 54% in just four years.

Caren completed her undergraduate studies at St. Mary’s College-Samuel Merritt University, a dual college nursing program located in California in 1996. During her undergraduate studies, she received the President’s Academic Scholarship and was honored on the Dean’s List. She furthered her education and received a critical care certification and began her career in the Emergency Department as a new graduate. She practiced as a registered nurse in the ER for approximately eight years before she graduated with her Masters in Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, CO in 2004.

Caren has developed training and didactic programs for her provider group and is a champion of nursing and clinical excellence. She has launched the APP Clinical Educational program within DispatchHealth and has been a guest clinical lecturer at Emory University on innovative models of care. She has developed content for the Preceptor Training Program and was a presenter at the annual Colorado Fire and Life Safety Educators Conference on the topic of “Aging and its Impact on Human Vulnerability,” in 2016. In 2018, she completed the Managing Health Care Delivery course at Harvard Business School (HBS).

Caren is a nationally board certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) with an emphasis and special training in Emergency Medicine. She is multi-state licensed and has a background in leadership and business. Caren is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Specialty Practice Group of Emergency Medicine. She was honored for her innovative nursing practice and received the very distinguished Nightingale Award in 2017.

Caren lives with her husband and two children in Denver, CO and enjoys traveling, reading, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
