Leslee Chavez

Director of Advanced Practice Providers


Leslee Chevez grew up on a farm/cattle ranch in North Dakota. She Attended Union College, in Lincoln Nebraska where she received a Bachelor’s of Nursing degree with a minor in Psychology. She moved to the West Coast, CA, and attended Loma Linda University, which was the first FNP-BC program, graduating in 1996, with a master’s in nursing.

Throughout her career, Leslee specialized in Cardiology, practicing for 28 years as FNP in Cardiology. She was designated as an Associate of the American College of Cardiology membership in 2008. She has worked in 4 different states as an FNP, from restrictive states to those states with independent practice.

Leslee moved to Ohio in 2012 and became the Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), in 2013 at Kettering Health. Kettering Health is made up of 14 medical centers and more than 120 outpatient locations throughout western Ohio, as well as Kettering Health Medical Group—with more than 800 board-certified providers dedicated to elevating the health, healing, and hope of the community. Kettering College, located on the campus of Kettering Health Main Campus, is a fully accredited college that specializes in health science education.

She continues to work clinically 1/2 day a week for Cardiology. In Leslee’s current position she has developed a structured Advanced Practice model moving from 17 to 350 APPs. In addition, she has appointed twenty current leads specializing in service line/department oversight. She sits on the campus steering council and APP board. Her reporting structure is through the CMO. Leslee has been invited by the American Hospital Association as a representative for network of APPs. She has attended APPex since 2016, serves on board of advisory of APPex, and became an APPex Fellow in 2023.
