Scott Cackler

Senior Director, Advanced Practice Providers


Scott Cackler is the Senior Director of Advanced Practice Providers at OhioHealth (Columbus, OH). His role is at an executive level to represent APPs across the whole health system (Ohio). This will be a new role for the health system to develop sound structure, quality, financial, utilization, and educational leadership for their APPs. His previous role was as Manager of Advanced Practice Providers at the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (Columbus, Ohio). He continues to practice clinically as a physician assistant in thoracic surgery.  He has previously practiced as physician assistant in Neurosurgery (Columbus, OH), urgent care (Columbus, OH) and thoracic surgery (Pittsburgh, PA).

Scott is very interested in the productivity, operations, reimbursement and developing strategy for usage of advanced practice professionals. Scott enjoys studying and implementing state/national legislative changes into practice while helping determine the advanced practice professional role in the ongoing transition in healthcare delivery models.

Scott is currently serving as member of Physician Assistant Policy Committee for the State Medical Board of Ohio where they review physician assistant practice and develop rules for policy changes. He has previously served two terms as the President of the Ohio Physician Assistant Association. Scott is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and has served on their State Legislative Workgroup helping outline model practices. Currently, Scott also represents AAPA participating in the Joint Commissions Ambulatory Accreditation Advisory Group.

Scott completed his MBA at The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business and previously earned his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Biology at Heidelberg College. He has been board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants since 2007.

Scott enjoys DIY home projects with his recent purchase of a fixer upper and maintaining his wooded landscape. When he isn’t working on his house or serving his profession he is also spending time with his wife and four children.
