Center of Excellence
The Center of Excellence in Advanced Practice designation recognizes healthcare organizations for the development, promotion, and advancement of an institutional/system infrastructure that supports, engages, and embraces Advanced Practice Providers (APPs): Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), Nurse Midwives (CNMs), and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs). It identifies organizations that understand the advantages, contributions, and overall value of the advanced practice roles. It acknowledges pursuits and efforts to expand the role, responsibilities, and appropriate utilization of APPs, idealizing the fullest scope of practice as determined by their training, education, licensure, and experience. And it encourages and rewards organizations that demonstrate positive impacts to various aspects of staff and patient experience—satisfaction, quality, outcomes, workflow, etc.—via vigorous involvement and active participation of APPs.
Developed by Advanced Practice Provider Executives, Inc. (APPex), the Center of Excellence in Advanced Practice designation is the first and only recognition for leading healthcare organizations that embody success and achievement in advanced practice. It is the ultimate credential for measuring organizational quality and distinction as they pertain to the advanced practice roles.
APPex strongly encourages organizations to develop, disseminate, and enculturate best practices and evidence-based criteria that result in a contributory, meaningful, and positive work environment for APPs and, by extension, patients and colleagues.
Organizations that achieve Center of Excellence in Advanced Practice designation gain the advantage of using the official certification mark in their marketing and promotion.
