Atrium Health
Rural Urgent Care Fellowship
Due to the growing number of patients in rural communities seeking immediate care at urgent care facilities, highly skilled advanced practice providers (APPs) are needed to meet the demand. Urgent care nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) must gain the skills to efficiently provide care for complex acute illnesses and injuries while accurately making medical decisions and managing patients and resources.
The Atrium Health Rural Urgent Care Fellowship is a 12-month program designed to train advanced practice providers in the evaluation, management and treatment of patients of all ages. Located at Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge-Morganton, near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, this program highlights the provider’s role in delivering culturally competent care and utilizing available resources in a rural community. For those interested in a metropolitan setting, we also offer an urgent care fellowship track in Charlotte, NC.
