George Washington University
Advanced Practitioner Residency
Update: We regret to inform that we are no longer continuing the program for the year 2019-2020. The AP residency is on hold indefinitely. Please check back for updates.
The GW Medical Faculty Associates and the George Washington University Hospital offer a one-year Trauma/Critical Care postgraduate residency for new-to-practice or limited experience nurse practitioners and physician assistants (advanced practitioners or APs). The residency will provide training in trauma surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery and all medical and surgical subspecialties managed by the ICU. The goal is to establish a dedicated path for the AP resident in the areas of critical care and trauma. With the assistance of a designated physician and experienced AP mentor, the AP will learn the necessary skills to properly manage critically ill and acutely injured patients through hands-on experience and weekly conferences.
