Palliative Medicine Fellowship

The Advanced Clinical Provider (ACP) Fellowship in Palliative Medicine is a 12-month program designed to equip ACPs with the specialized skill set necessary to care for patients diagnosed with advanced illness. Palliative medicine focuses on providing relief from symptoms and the stress of the illness, with a goal of improving the quality of life for both the patient and caregiver. The program’s fundamental aim is to increase the ACP’s confidence and competence through the strengthening of core clinical knowledge and interpersonal skills. This will be accomplished by promoting collaborative and integrative clinical experiences alongside an interdisciplinary team comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social work, and chaplaincy.

Completion of the fellowship will allow the practitioner to deliver quality, comprehensive healthcare services where coordination of care is essential for maintaining quality of life. Upon completion, the ACP will be eligible to sit for the Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) board certification by The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
