Pioneering Nurse Practitioner Residency Program

As the number of patients seeking primary care grows steadily, nurse practitioners are beginning to play an integral role in clinical care. In 2016, Puentes de Salud and the Independence Blue Cross Foundation joined forces to launch the nation’s third Nurse Practitioner Residency Program. Offering a one-year, supervised rotation, the program will provide NP residents with the equivalent of three years of unsupervised clinical experience. Designed by Puentes de Salud co-founder and executive director Dr. Steve Larson, this innovative new program will furnish NP residents with the confidence and clinical experience necessary to successfully identify and manage patients from all walks of life.
